Ok, sense the demo is coming up relatively soon, we need to get a few things sorted out story-wise first. I'm gonna hold a "demo story survey" either tonight or tomorrow if people are ok with it, and we're going to address the following things: Should Doucherado be in the demo? Would it be a battle? Does that mean we need to add Somberado? Who should be your friendly rival and what role should he/she play? Should the evil team make an appearance? What role do Sequoia and Mangrove play? Thoughts? Anything else you want added? I'm leaving now and I'll be back in like 3 hours. I expect replies upon my return.

But then it kind of clashes with the fire gym badge, which has more reason to be red. I pushed the tent more blue to try to get more of a color wheel kind of harmony to it.

I could always go back to the psychic/fighting motif, but because the ?! systers already have that visual dynamic to them (the symbols they are based on, not necessarily the characters themselves) I'd like to see if I can get an exclamation/question design that both works and looks nice. which as I said is quite a task.

Draik, are you the only one mapping? How big is the region? You might get overwhelmed with all the work if you're doing it by yourself so make sure you take breaks every now and then. You're doing a great job so far.

Only thing I really have to say about the tree tiles is lets try to vary it up as much as possible from route to route. You don't want to be running into the same tree the whole game.

so many failed patterns Tried to kind of meld gen3 and 4. Visually, not literally. Tried to get a repeated pattern like GF up top, but I think that might have been the only center to do that. A lot of the other ones used panels, but I think a simpler wall would look plenty fine.

600 character limit per survey summery. That should give you enough to write about the gym leader. without being too long to read.
This doesn't mean you can only post that summery, you can go on as long as you like. But a 600 character limit summery is needed for the survey. And if one is not given, a summery will be made out of whatever is put there.

A golem attempt. Both of these golems were created by the antag team in an attempt to improve on Eronze. Erion was a faliure - it was animated with a corrupted jewel of Yacuma or something went wrong while making it and it started leaking toxins. Erace is the second and much more successful attempt. So I tried to give the old Erace design three eyes. I'm not too sure on the colours or markings, I might go back to the original for those as well. Erion wasn't too successful but I'll post it incase it inspires anyone.

Bug-Silk Lolita Girl: She likes to use the silk from bug-types to make new dresses/fashions. Her gym is very pastel and maybe the puzzle could involve something cute riding around in a big teacup or something. She would be slightly younger, and her dress has indications and similarities with some of our bug Pokemon. I think this would add a bit of diversity to the current gym leaders we have and also add something sort of different then what has been done before in games. Not saying the other suggestions don't do that, just that it is sort of untouched so far. It would also be nice to have a more cute and simplistic style gym; akin to Erica, Whitney, and Gardenia. Something more fun and not so serious.

Here's a good example of how size quibbles can fuck up sprites. We had a great Kertruffle sprite, and then someone bitched that it was "too big." So someone put together that ugly thing on the left (The one on the right is my attempt to fix it). On the other hand, people use it as an excuse to make sprites fill up as much of the space alloted as possible.

I'm not advocating for huge sprites. I'm advocating sprite that are made to look like shit just to fit some pointless size guideline. I think we can make good looking sprites which are logical to the size they're meant to be without having to resort to anal-retentive pixel counting.

Dilophlora is a pretty straightforward desigh, with a lot of organic shapes which can be fudged to make smaller and still read well.
It's much harder to make the cahokisect design fit in a smaller space and have all the bits read accurately.

I'm not dismissing the guidelines out of hand, just that they should be looser than some people seem to want them to be.
If I'm being honest with myself, though, I do have a gut negative reaction to any sprite suggestion which includes calling me a fucker and saying I suck. I'm not sure why anyone would think that would make me take them seriously.
I can take another crack at it, but I do think the current cahokisect sprite is perfectly fine.

Mapguy here. I'm almost done with the intial version of the updated map, but I wanted to ask everybody regarding something first. Do you guys mind this change? The reasoning is that industrial city would be right on the coast, next to tropical beaches and such, which I feel would clash pretty badly.
