These days while I like them and am nostalgic for them in theory I just find it hard to get excited about any of them. Between Bulbasaur and Squirtle though. Never trained a Charmander and I never want to. I'll almost certainly box them whatever I pick though, Kalos only for my crew.

Charmander probably because I think it was the first Starter I picked and its currently my fav Kanto starter. Squirtle maybe because I think he was the starter I first beat Pokemon Red with (Charmander was too hard to win with back in those days) and MegaBlastoise is the best looking Mega Kanto Starter.

I really don't think Nintendo would lose your Pokémon. They probably have tons of servers in one location, and then different servers in other locations to back up, along with multiple storage devices/online databases.
