If you have 2 5th Gen games it certainly would be.
Get 2 Shiny Palkia's and eventually trade one with some guy who got the Diagia and forgot to come back a week or two after for the Palkia

I've never tried so I'm not sure but at least you have some time to soft reset before the Palkia event ends if someone else confirms you can't have two at once

I got a guy in my Pokecenter that wants to give me a Genesect from the event long ago.. Can I still get a Shiny Palkia?

Or do I have to take the Genesect before I get it?

You can have multiple event mons waiting for you. Like if you haven't picked up the events before downloading palkia, the delivery man will give you those first, one at a time.
