Even though it's 2x weak to Fire and Ground, it resists a whopping 9 types (Normal, Grass, Ice, Flying, Psychic, Bug (1/4x), Rock and Fairy) while being immune to two more (Dragon, Poison).

The bug type itself is great, some bug type pokemons however (well, most of them) have awful stats.
What needs a buff is Poison (it's already been kinda buffed but meh) and Grass (those weakness are really a problem, I'm glad they're now immune to powders and spores)

Because it's not a terribly great attacking type. Fighting is the only thing it's good at taking down when it comes to type advantages and the meta you see today. Poison isn't all that common.

Besides, I really cannot stand Scizor and if he snags a 4x resistance to psychic I am going to go postal.

I'll give you ground and rock, but every water type and their mothers knows ice beam. Also with seven fucking types resisting it, and when many grass type pokemons have shallow movepool (stab and normal moves only), you can see what I'm saying. Poison are much more defensively oriented as a type to be honest, while grass are neither

Bug is good because it's resistant to Ground and Fighting, and when it's combined with other types they end up being fantastic Pokemon. The only reason Bug has ever been bad is when GF gave them shitty base stats and only combined it with Poison and Flying
