With the Mega, though, he has a good niche with Rocks. If Rocks get nerfed, he'll actually kick a considerable amount of ass.
I WOULD argue that he's more of an issue as having a shitty movepool than shitty stats. He has Lucario-esque stats.. as in, decent all around, with only 2 that are in the "good" range, but can't take advantage of them with his wonky ass movepool.

Fire/Flying is a better defensive typing, and alright offensively. Fire/Dragon is still good, though.
