Gameplay? XD was a little bit more rounded and paced, and started out at a much earlier level. You could also do a little bit more then Colosseum. I personally did not have a problem with Citadark Island, so eh.
Pokemon assortment? Colo was better, since FRLG came out not too long after and allowed people to get Johto Pokemon (and for awhile was one of the few ways you could). XD did not really have anything worth it, and really could not be used as a replacement to FRLG.
Story wise? I like Colo a bit better, but XD was not bad (for a Pokemon game).
Personally: Colosseum > XD >>>>>>>>>>>>>The abomination that is Battle Revolution (Kind of hope they do a console Pokemon game again that isn't shit)
