Why is everyone so freaking obsessed with the starters having dual types that balance out perfectly? There is no precedent for this.

I get the Grass-Fire-Water triangle, but that is a simplistic tutorial to show how types are effective or ineffective against opponents. It is NOT and it HAS NEVER BEEN a thing to have dual types working in a perfect triangle.

>Gen 1
Even the very first starters had dual types that didn't work perfectly. How is Grass/Poison perfectly balanced with Fire/Flying or Water? HOW? It freaking isn't.

>Gen 2
The only ones to stick with a single type. The triangle holds firm, but DOES NOT tell us that secondary types must balance perfectly.

>Gen 3
Grass and Fire/Fighting and Water/Ground. Again, dual typings don't match up in a perfect triangle. One doesn't even HAVE a secondary type.

>Gen 4
Grass/Ground and Fire/Fighting and Water/Steel. Torterra is strong against the other two starters. Infernape is strong against the other two starters. Empoleon is ONLY strong against Infernape, and does normal damage to Torterra. THERE IS NO PERFECT TRIANGLE.

>Gen 5
Grass, Fire/Fighting and Water. No perfect triangle, only one with a secondary type.

So, tell me /vp/, why are you so obsessed with having three starters with a balanced dual-type triangle? There is absolutely no precedent for this happening, and no reason why it HAS to happen 'to balance the starters'.

Your logic is flawed. You can hope the Pokebeach leaks are correct, sure, but don't believe in a Dark/Fighting/Psychic secondary type matchup because it's a triangle. Because that means nothing.
