Clearly no one here has seen the short intermissions in Kappa Mikey, or for that matter, various scenes in dozens of anime shows. The Wapanese love putting faces on inanimate objects and plastering them in the background to make things look "cuter"
After the fiasco with Furfrou, I'm sure GF is on the lookout for anything that could accidentally be revealed too soon. They wouldn't just draw a random Cupcakemon in official accessorizing art.
