Hey bros do you remember that first time you heard of ruby/sapphire? I was just a kid but damn did I think it was such a jump in not only graphics but just all around wonder. I'm no hoene fag but just reminiscing on the old days ya know.

I remember being excited as fuck, but then it came out and it felt like a disappointment. I still liked the game, though, unlike most of my Pokemon-playing friends back then. To be honest the only things that really spoiled it for me were the initial lack of Pokemon, not being able to trade with my old games, and removing day and night features.

I mainly remember hating Mudkip a lot.
I was in a new school, Pokémon wasnt that popular anymore and I didnt have a GBA or any 6th gen vidya system.
Then I remember some guy had a Nintendo magazine that announced Ruby an Sapphire and it was inevitable for me to think "these aren't colors anymore" , and I saw the starters in an image similar to OP's pic, with those intense red and blue colors. I recognized the different art style and specially Mudkip. He just looked wrong.

My hype levels for X/Y are approaching Ruby/Sapphire levels. Goddamn the hype was strong back then. In my case R/S didn't disappoint, either. That wouldn't happen until Diamond/Pearl.

I remember my mind being blown by the graphics, and I remember looking up how EVs worked on Gamefaqs once the games had come out.

My group of friends were more hyped for Fire Red and Leaf Green though.

Oh, sorry, I thought this was a discussion of initial reception of the game playing it was well as the hype surrounding.

I really was amped to hell for gen 3, but then again I was always amped for a new Pokemon Gen since the Johto starters showed up in Nintendo Power.

While I was given Gold by an older cousin, RS were the first pokemon games I was waiting for. I didn't get RBY because my parents were against vidya when the games were released.

In any case, I guess you can say I'm a Hoennbaby but who cares.

I waited forever for RS to come out, and then (because my parents refused to buy it) my aunt bought it for my birthday the year after the game came out.

But shit, nigga - I loved them then and I love them now. The pokemon designs are among my favorite, the region is my second favorite (even with all the water) and I love the music (trumpets included)

Duskull and footprints in the sand are the first things that stand out to me when I think of early RS news. I was starting to come off the Pokemon high but it was still neat to see a new game. I remember when I first played the game in a Kmart, it was amazing to see how it looked in hand. Machokes in the overworld actually looked like machokes! But I didn't get around to playing Hoenn until Emerald, because the lack of backwards compatibility was frustrating. ten FRLG came out, and I was able to get back all my old Pokebros, which was satisfying. My GSC pokebros were mostly Kanto pokemon anyway. Emerald's presentation also felt a lot more comfy than RS

Yeah, I was 11 at the time and a friend of mine came to school with two pages worth of sprites for the Gen III pokemon

Shit was awesome. However it would be my last Gen until I bought Black 2 back in May (Diamond and Pearl seemed stale as fuck)
