Forgive me if this has been done before.

We heavily suspect that the IV system is going to change in some manner, since Hidden Power will need to include Fairy type, so this isn't too wild of a theory.

What if Pokémon Amie replaced IVs?

Why the hate for IVs?
They make each Pokemon unique. It's like genes.
Don't you want each Pokemon to be an individual?

It's like this.

A dedicated breeder breeds for hours to get a strong Pokémon. It has imperfect IVs, but they're pretty good.

A cheating shit face hacks perfect IV Pokémon in three seconds.

Sure they make every Pokémon unique, and I personally really like that. But the fact is, the current IV system just fucks over the legit players and benefits the cheaters.

Unique = good
Making Pokemon arbitrarily worse within the same species and giving hackers a huge advantage = bad

If they want uniqueness it should be something that's aesthetic only. It shouldn't affect stats.

Of course it does. The 3DS has to be hacked before Pokegen or any cheating device can be used with X/Y.

Also breeding IVs is a pain in the arse and I'd really rather not spend weeks on end to get a competitively viable pokemon

In concept, it's neat. In reality, it becomes annoying when you realize you need perfect IVs to be competitive, and perfect IVs require days of grinding for just one Pokemon. Not even completely controllable grinding like EVs, luck based "hoping the egg is right this time" grinding, even with all the right factors in your favor.

If they did away with IVs, then every single wild pokemon of the same species is exactly the same, apart from nature.

they've already said that Amie affects other things in battles, like crit chance, evasion, etc.

Natures and EVs give enough variance for in game. In competitive play, each Pokemon doesn't need to be unique.

what if IVs were not used for online play, only for standard singleplayer?
And having hidden power based on personality value?
It would make them unique ingame, while removing the need for someone to breed this extensively for competitive play.
All this while not defaulting them all mainly to the same role, due to EVs still being there.
We'd only have to find a way to compensate some teams, namely trick room, which I'm guessing would probably lose a little effectiveness due to not being able to set zero speed IVs, maybe, I guess.

I wish they used IV's for game-related things like Speed IV influencing how likely you are to flee from a battle, etc...

And either remove Hidden Power or make it breedable, because that's the most unnecessarily complex system they've ever come up with.

Assuming every Pokemon starts at 1 IV across the board, would Banked Pokemon have their stats recalculated, forcing the player to use Amie to raise them, or would the IV system just stay as-is, meaning we'd use Amie to just bump our Pokemon from (for example) 20 Attack up to 31 Attack?

Individuality should be something neat, not something that just screws you over. That Modest Machamp or Gengar with 3 speed and 3 special attack IVs are just going to end up as worthless box space that never amount to anything, which is weird since Pokemon is heavy on friendship themes.
