Mega evolutions: An excuse to be lazier with evolution designs of older pokemon. Just slap a spike or two and some ribbons and vuola, mega evolution!

On the other hand, I'm worried that the idea of Mega Evolutions effectively capped some families into a permanent "This pokemon is the final evolution" line prematurely.

This doesn't make any sense, there's nothing stopping them to use the mega designs to plain new evolutions (like in the mawile case), and they're not trading new pokémon in the kalos dex for mega evolutions to old pokémon, it's stupid saying that they're lazy because of it
