I'm considering upconsoling from regular 3DS to XL in time for XY. Is it worth it? I'm worried about how DS games look on it since I still mostly play them.

DS games look great on the XL if you hold select as you boot them as this makes them go to the size of a regular DS cause of the size of the XL etc, blown up they still look pretty good

Definitely worth it. I upgraded to an XL a couple weeks ago and it was worth every penny.

DS games look fine if you play them in their native resolution. They display bigger than the DS/DS Lite screen as well.

It doesn't really matter. The insides are all black, unless you get the pink of Pikachu 3DS which are white on the inside.

Welp, I'm pretty much sold! Blue XY themed XL, here I come!

I'm keeping my Lite for GBA games, so if DS games look bad I can always use that.

Besides XY (and Fire Emblem) are there any good 3DS games yet? I've had a couple run through my hands but they've been largely disappointing.

Animal Crossing, Kid Icarus, Rune Factory 4 comes out at the beginning of October. Senran Kagura Burst later this year, Bravely Default (gonna be GOTYAY) at some point. Lots of good stuff.

Oh lord I was skeptical at first, but totally worth the upgrade. I tried playing on my old 3DS again the other day... couldn't handle it.

Apart from everything else already mentioned, I rather liked the 3DS version of Sonic Generations. Main story is short as fuck, but it has 100 additional missions and really fun online multiplayer. Also, it's really cheap now.

If you are in the US today is the last day of bestbuys sale for 180$

If you are in Canada, Walmart has them on sale for 150$ until the 19th.

Also do it, it is worth it.

It isn't worth it. The upgrades they made for the XL aren't worth the price. It's all dependant on which feels more comfortable.
