I hate them. They're gimmicky and take the place of the much more practical regular evolutions. If they wanted to boost the stats of weaker pokemon they could of just gave them an evolution of if that's not possible just improve their stats.

Actually, they ruin any chance of Pokemon I like ever getting normal evolutions.
I can't train a Mega evolution. I can train an Evolution. It goes against everything that's fun about Pokemon.

Well, don't assume they will never again evolve an old pokémon. They're just adding a new twist to the game, making people wonder if a certain pokemon is preparing for a mega sweep, or something.
Hopefully we'll still have a lot of regular evolutions in the future to go with it.
Besides, training your best bro to have it go supersayan in a pinch would be amazing. I'd love it if there were a lot of megaevolutions that weren't a good idea to activate as soon as the battle started, perhaps something that traded (a lot of) defense for a speed and attack boost would be amazing, picture that activating in the middle of a battle.
Then again, we can only hope.

I doubt you'll NEED to. After all, you'll only be able to use one mega per team, and the mega obviously won't get the benefits of some of the other staple held items. There's a lot of neat things that can come from mega evolutions.

I hope not. There isn't a single mega evolution I like and to be frank I don't like the mechanic much. Some of the pokemon they should have just given an evolution too and others didn't need help. Pokemon like Ampharos and Charizard they could have helped in other ways. But this is just my opinion.

Right? That's what i think every time i look at Mega Absol and Mega Mawhile. Mega Evolution would have been okay if broken Pokes didn't get them too. Arbok, Fearow, Spinda, Mightyena, Ariados... Soooo many Pokemon that would've benefitted from a normal evo. Fuck you Gamefreak.

I am fine with Mega evolutions if they save them for third-stage or legendary Pokemon, or Pokemon that already look "fully-evolved." But Mawile and Absol should have gotten regular evolutions. Pokemon like Kecleon, Corsola, Farfetch'd, Carnivine, etc. should get regular, not Mega evolutions.

They'll almost never be used due to needing an item that's most likely 1 time use. Even if the stat boost is worth giving up an item form it's gone forever if they're forced out.

Also it's an extremely clumsy way of buffing certain pokemon when they could have given them moves, new abilities or just said fuck it and changed base stats/typings instead.
