Obviously not. There needs to be around 30 fairy types...and they're not gonna introduce such a huge proportion of fairys, are they?

yes, but they wouldn't introduce 30 fairy type pokemon out of 125 new pokemon (just throwing a number), would they? It'd mean almost 1 in every 4 new pokemon is fairy typed

They're not passing up Clefairy. Pokemon Twitter asked fans what Clefairy, Sylveon, and Xerneus had in common like, a week or two before fairy types were confirmed.
