Say there was another game with kanto and johto regions, where over the course of the game you fight red, blue, gold, and silver.

What teams do you think they should have?

Yes, but blue already had a psychic type, and I think the Gengar fits him better. So, I gave the Alakazam to Red, because I personally think it fits him and rounds out his team.

Most of Silver's team sucked or was already in use with someone else, so I improvised. I made sure he had as many gen 2 pokemon as I could give him that didn't suck. I'd say his team fits him and is pretty good.

Blue having a pigeot always seemed kinda retarded to me, though. Keeping all the rest of your suggestions, I'd change his pigeot to a dragonite to put him on more even footing with the rest, and have the dragonite know thunderbolt, flamethrower, ice beam, outrage.

I think the dog, octopus, and elephant fit his "dark/menacing/'bad boy' " theme, plus they're all pretty good.

The heracross admittedly doesn't fit his "theme", but what else was I gonna use that rounded out his team and didn't suck?

The Pokémon it's implies he stole fits it much better. And he canonically owns it.

I'm not saying your interpretation of their teams is wrong, just that if you were going to fight them in-game they'd probably be based more on the already established canon. I actually have a couple pictures of this exact kind of thing. None of them really get perfect, especially with Red's Pikachu shenanigans and what-not. There isn't a clear standard other than "loosely based on in-game events".

I said in the post that Celebi and Victini don't make sense.
As for Zekrom/Reshiram (not entirely sure why that one shows Zekrom only), you not only canonically catch it, you're /forced/ to catch it.
