Hey there /vp/,
I am one of those fags who is going to buy 3DS just for 6th gen Pokémon game(s).
But I am just not sure what model I should choose so:

What experience do you have with these nintendos?
Is 3DS worth the money?
Is it probable that game shops will run sales on 3DS handhelds?

I am a bit afraid of used handhelds. I just never know if it isn't somewhere broken or whatever...

So 3DS XL, you say.

Let's say then that i want to buy a used one.
What things should i check before the actual trade with someone? Are there any things that i should take care of in particular?

I own both the 3ds and the 3dsXL

The 3DSXL is what the 3DS should have been in the first place.

The 3ds screen scratches itself whereas the 3dsXL has rubber nubs above the screen.

The 3ds is a finger-print magnet because of its glossy exterior whereas the matte finish on the 3ds XL is really nice.

The buttons on the 3dsXL also feels much nicer to press.

I think dead pixels are a main issue, you should ask for a pic of the 3DS turned on.

Seriously, if you have a chance to play them side by side, you'll be sold. I've done both and I'm telling you man, there's no comparison.

By the way, I am now going to sound like a filthy whore for nintendo, but I bought mine just for X&Y as well. I spent about fifty bucks on the online store thing they have on downloadable titles and I've had a blast with it. Gotten way more use out of the thing than I thought I would. You might find yourself using it more than you think.

What is with the 2DS hate.
People have already said it feels comfy as fuck to hold. And I don't know how anyone can find it ugly -especially looking at the 3DS which tbh is one of the ugliest handhelds to date.

It's as cheap as a second hand 3DS and it's being released the same day. It's basically a only-for-pokemon device.

I bought mine as a refurb directly from nintendo. Comes with some kind of warranty, in the box and all that, and cheaper than a new one. I recommend it.

The only thing is you won't have much choice of colors. I don't give a fuck personally, because I am an adult.

I am not sure but aren't the screens of the same size as 3DS? I am more in favor of 3DS XL screen size. But yeah, I don't like its design but i don't hate it. I would say that I really don't care. And another thing - gen 6 is going to be using 3D feature and I am very, very curious

I've been playing pokémon games since i was 9. That's 10 years ago. I've never had any handheld but ye olde PSP. I am the emulator user but gen 6 looks so awesome that I just need to have it immediately

The XL is a lot sturdier and the buttons are MUCH less likely to fuck up (standard 3ds feels fucking flimsy). The XL has better placement of the stylus. The XL is more comfortable to hold. The XL is (of course) Bigger. The XL has a longer battery life.

Want any other reasons to get an XL?

I hate that last one, but the huge screens for the XL are done right and not like the DSi XL which botched it.

I bought an XL way back with Monster Hunter and the huge screen is amazing.
