I started playing Pokémon White 2 today. It's my first generation V game, and my only experience with gen IV was HeartGold (I did play some Platinum but don't remember much of it), so I lag behind the times a little.
A few things I have noticed:

•The difficulty is higher than usual—wild Pokémon actually have a respectable level instead of being a third of the level of your starter at any time, and likewise trainers' Pokémon are also more of a challenge.
• Pokémon are stupidly hard to catch now. I had to throw two Superballs and three Pokéballs just to catch a single Smogon whose health bar was already red; dit(t)o with one of those leaf-bug things.
• I don't feel compelled to turn animations off this time, as the battles feel really dynamic now. Only the backgrounds are too bland and sterile, but the animations look great.
• The music sucks.
• There are a lot of strong and useful Pokémon available right at the beginning of the game, like Psyduck, Magnemite, Elekid, or Koffing.
• Saving the game takes ages.
