Gamefreak tasks you with rebalancing the types. You're not allowed to just remove a "problem" type and Fairy must be included. The goal is for every type to be desirable in its own way.

How do you proceed, /vp/?

Well for one I'd give some offensive buffs to Dark and Bug
Then some defensive buffs to Ice and Bug
And I would give Poison an SE on Water

I'd actually employ more "secondary" buffs.. things like Grass being immune to Leech Seed.

-I'd make Poison be the only type that can make Toxic "badly poison" foes. Other pokemon can use Toxic, but it'd only be normal poison.
-Black Sludge does double the amount that leftovers does
-Fighting no longer resists Dark
-Ice is no longer weak to Rock
-Ice types recover HP in Hail, stop the offensive buff that Fire gets in Drought while on the field, and treats all water moves attacking it as Ice (As if the presence of Ice pokemon cool the area, and therefore have an affect on incoming moves)
-Psychic pokemon have a natural 1 stage buff to accuracy

I'd go with all of these except Ice SE on Bug. I wouldn't want to see my poor Bug/Flying types 4x weak to Ice, and Bug/Grass would have 3 4x weaknesses.

I like the idea of moves being sublcassified as things like "bite" and "fist" and "powder."

if I were designing I'd probably start there. there's a lot of design space with having certain moves being a certain kind of attack. you can have beam attacks, wave attacks, bullet attacks on the special side of things.

but I honestly don't know where to start when it comes to rebalancing. there's 18 types now and besides knowing that I want grass to get a buff and not being sure if poison got enough of a buff I wouldn't know where to begin.
