I'm 18, and was very young when Red and Blue were released and didn't even play them till a few years later, when I was old enough to actually play a video game.

But every single time a new gen was announced i got excited and enjoyed each one. I like them all. So what's the deal with these guys?

Well I guess this is as good a place to ask, but it's been bothering me.

Anybody absolutely hates B2W2? Always forcing you to watch unstoppable cut scenes (making a movie? really?) and other even forcing you away from the main story line. Constantly losing control of your character with either bianca, your rival or ex-league champion popping up all the time, gym leader arguing, your mom calling your on the phone, etc?

Can I just play the fucking game already?
Also the tutorials at the beginning of the game are getting old, there should be an option to turn them off.

Generally because they lost interest in Pokemon after Gen1, and didn't play any games after that. They're just holding onto their childhood memories. It's similar in a way to when old people reminisce about the past, only these idiots do it with Pokemon games, and their childhood which was only about 11-12 years ago.

Challenge. And I don't mean "gen 1 was sooo hard!" I mean, I want nonlinear regions. I want to be able to figure out what to do next. I want my rival to pop at completely unexpected and very inconvienant times and force me to battle.

I miss the days when we'd just go down a path to see where it leads, and if it has boulders in the way we'll come back later.

Nowadays it's "Hey good job beating this gym here have Strenth to move these boulders right in front of you that will lead you to the next gym which is also right in front of you"

That's what I'm saying, they don't pop up at unexpected times anymore, they just pop ALL THE TIME.

In B2W2, after the ex-champion trains you at school, you get interrupted by the guys explaining to you what green grass does, then you get interrupted by a phone call, then by the gym leader arguing with a boating guy, then forced into making a movie, then into chasing after team galaxy/whateverthefuck.

Never played gen2 so I believe you about the phone calls.
I am outgrowing pokemon, but I still enjoy playing the games, save for the bad design, I still like it a little. I wish they'd realize that their fanbase has a lot of old players in it and maybe make it fun for them as well.

I put up with her until I got all the items. I thanked the lord when I could rebattle Joey and say good-bye to his fucking Rattata. In retrospect Gen 2 had a lot off things that bothered me as a kid. Unfortunately most of them stayed for the remakes.

Honestly, finding the area with Smeargle and Natu after doing the slide puzzles in GSC and unlocking the caves with the Regi's in RSE was fantastic when I was younger, I searched for ages for my booklet just to decipher the braille and I actually felt like I achieved something when I caught Regice.

That's not bad at all. Even for all the improvements gen 5 made, I still wasn't sure if I would've gotten them or not until I made an impulse buy on release week. after 5 DS Pokemon games, I was really more anticipating a 3DS game. Besides, genwunners wouldn't play past Gen 2. I enjoyed BW 1 and 2, but Honestly I'd like them way better if we just skipped right ahead to make them 3DS games.

Or Sinnoh, I remember getting lost in that snowy area trying to get to the lake/gym area, it was so fun! Finding that little cabin and all the pokeballs in the snow, the deep snow, new snow pokemons, and then that sand hippo changing the weather was like "what are YOU doing here??"

All we need are extremely vague hints. I just cannnot fucking stand being told WHAT TO DO WHERE TO GO HOW TO DO IT WHEN TO DO IT.

Here's how it should go:

-Get starter
-Get map
-Wow look at all these branching paths
-One route is very long, leads to dead end that can only be crossed with surf, BUT get a kewl poke for your exploration
-Other route leads to first gym
BUT YOU WOULDNT KNOW THAT UNLESS YOU WERE TO TRAVEL THE ROUTES TO SEE WHERE THEY GO

There was actually a pretty good postgame area with potential in BW- Challenger's Cave. It was a really nice parallel to the Unknown Dungeon from RBY, a cave that you could see, but couldn't enter until you had proven yourself.

And then they fucked it up by having nothing of note at the end other than a TM, and then they took it out entirely from BW2. Such a waste.

I just feel like Gen 5 will have middle child syndrome. It's better gameplay wise than Gen 4, but Gen 4 felt like a massive leap, and Gen 6 looks to be the same. At the very least, I have a ton of new bros from Unova, more so than Sinnoh or even Hoenn.

I don't care for Gen 3 too much. It had such a weird feel to it. Like, the pokemon designs are so...idk. All the designs feel very "GGen3" but i can't explain why. It's as if Gen 3 is it's own isolated universe.

Eh, I've been replaying Gen 3 a lot, and I really don't get that feeling from Hoenn.you have plenty of branched out areas, but they're still blocked off. It's a shame, because a few improvements would have made it much better; make rocksmash and the go-goggles available before beating Wattson, or shortly after for the Gogoggles. Make diving available before Mossdeep. since it was the first game were they had a truly involved storyline (beyond Gen 2's simple one), it sort of suffers for it.

Say what yo will about Gen 1, it handled Level scaling of wild Pokemon a lot better than most games up until Gen 5. That, plus exploiting nonlinearity, means safari zone pokemon are actually useful on a playthrough. It meant getting the Super rod halfway through the game, so you had a wealth of new candidates for your team. Then you can easily grind through silph Co. The only issue is the leap in E4 levels, but they're all weak defensively.

I enjoyed the surfing. Just packed a few repels and did a load of diving to get treasure. It was great, felt like an actual adventure, especially when discovering the entrance to Sootopolis, the abandoned ship, the fast current route to the chamber that unlocked the regi's, etc.

Truth be told, while I don't have many Hoenn favorites, those that I do have are some of my top Pokemon. Flygon is the pokemon Charizard filled a hole in my heart for as a kid. Metagross is unique and interesting. Treecko is the first grass starter I truly liked, etc.
