Small question, say I PokeGen a flat 31 Ditto and breed it, the child would be legit, right? Because breeding normally takes no skill but 50 hours of patience for 2 more Ivs

They would pass the current VGC check, but some of their trash bytes would be off, and there are people who can tell.

Even the Ditto itself would be legit, just very unlikely in-game and obtained through cheating.

Just gen the pokemon itself if you think breeding isn't for you, some people just don't find it fun or fulfilling.

The "legitimacy checker" that Gamefreak use is only meant for things which are actually impossible, like a mon with 255 in every EV or shinies that don't match the personality value.

A well pokegenned mon is exactly the same as a real mon, just obtained through cheats.

i just checked project pokemon wiki and im by no means an expert on this but it says if you nickname a pokemon then re name it back to its original species name it corrects the trash bytes

I don't cheat for pokemon in the game, just to make competitive teams. But with showdown why even bother battling on the game anymore. None of my friends will battle me because I know more about competitive battling and rekt them everytime

No, it's not, it's trash bytes won't be correct. A Pokegenned Pokemon currently passes all official checks, but a person who knows how to read the code can tell it's not legitimate. Smogon's Wi-Fi forums developed a way to check years ago.

Given the fact that they have tried to create legitimacy checkers in the past, yes I would say they care.

As people have said there are trash bytes in the code, if gamefreak created a checker to check these then they MAY have a way to filter out pokegened pokemon.
