>>13870246Imo, usually the third game (minus Yellow) is the "canon" game, although with the remakes that changes. FR/LG are practically identical so that one is really up to opinion, I always chose FR because it's the one that was featured in both Gen I (Red) & III (FR) in both America & Japan. HG is definitely the canon Johto game as its storyline is more similiar to Crystal than SS, in SS a new bell was created for Lugia whereas the original bell from Crystal was used for Ho-Oh in HG. Emerald & Platinum are definitely the canon games to me for Hoenn & Sinnoh. Unova is the more difficult one to decide between personally I choose W/W2 as canon, the more rustic setting better suits the Pokemon world and Reshiram (the more "natural" of the two dragons, being a torch instead of a generator) seems to fit N far more than Zekrom, the White games also give optimal access to gym leaders as you battle both Iris (White) & Drayden (White 2) instead of Drayden twice. I'll have to wait and see the differences between X & Y to forge an opinion on them and it was depends whether we see Z or X2/XX & Y2/XY.
