Alright, I have a legitimate question for you /vp/, or at least some of you. Now, I always nickname my pokemon. Every one of them. Ones I hate, ones I never plan on using, everything. I feel it makes the game just a little more fun, and enhances the experience. So, my question is to those of you who do not nickname your pokemon. Why? This isn't set up to call you autistic, or a faggot, or some combination of the two. I'm curious, why don't you nickname your pokemon? Is it simply because you don't want to bond with imaginary characters made of data?

I only started nicknaming my pokemon in diamond (when platinum had just come out) but I still only nickname shiny pokemon or a few of my main. I don't think I can think up names for all of my pokemon, so most of them I just don't bother. I try to keep their names original and clever.

>>13871556 Mostly because I normally like the species name more than any real name I come up with. A Pikachu called "Terry" or something don't appeal to me. Plus I seem to have the exact same amount of attachment to a poke with or without the nick names.

I started nicknaming on SoulSilver, but they started out as just names of certain band members. It wasn't until Black 2 where I literally could not proceed without naming my pokemon something clever. One I'm particularly proud of is naming my Cressalia "Eclipse" in reference to the Pink Floyd song off DSOTM.

I never really name my Pokemon because there's no point. I'd rather see the species name in a box than some goofy name. Occasionally I'll have themes though. I remember naming all my Pokemon after ASOIAF characters. I was Petyr and my rival was Varys.
