Implying the not-fakemon movesets and abilities aren't the best part.

I had a ball with Manly Pink which replaced Gen I with Gen V pokes while Gen V had yet to be ported to the West. You got things like wild mons having different abilities and carrying rare items.
My Huge Power Scrafty and Levitate Golurk gave me way more fun than the last Game Freak Pokemon game I played.

The Creator is ALSO working on a sequel (the first Dark Rising was literally created with a sequel in mind).

It was a hack that was made when we didn't know the english names for pokémon in BW, so they made a GBA hack with manly pink
it was kinda fun but unbalanced and made by an inexperimented hacker, but still cool if you wanted some random hack

pic related, these guys don't even have scripts attached to them
it's first bad design (it's a forced loss at the beginning against a level 50 tornadus and you don't even discover anything in that "cutscene")

But if you lose and get teleported back, none of these guys have scripts
it's not even a level script that would make them disappear afterwards, it's just a fucking script at the exit that you can't walk around because of course level scripts don't exist
AND THAT GUY DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TORNADUS WHEN YOU MEET HIM AFTERWARDS

The fact that Zen Headbutt can Flinch 100% of the time, there are DROUGHT Vulpix before the First Gym (That's not even including there are Fire Stones for sale in the same town AND Vulpix can learn Zen Headbutt).

The Story begins in a dream.

For some incredibly stupid reason Stealth Rock is in the game but it wasn't hacked to act like the real thing, it's literally a Rock Type version of Spikes that does the exact same thing.

Honestly, Pokecommunity seems to be a giant hugbox compared to other places.

One thing I've noticed from playing a few hacks is that nobody knows the slightest thing about game design.

For fucks sake, don't make the starting town fucking huge with 3 different exits leading to different places, keep it simple to start off with.

Don't put 25 Pokemon in the first route alone, all it does is make choosing a team a lot harder.

Finally, don't insert yourself into the game via a 2darkandedgy rival character who shows up every now and then to act like a sobadasswow

I guess this is because people are tired of starting in a 3 House Town where only you, The Rival and Professor actually have somewhere to live, while the other NPCs (TECHNOLOGY IS INCREDIBLE!) have to wander around outside forever.

Another common complaint from idiots is not having a good choice of Pokemon early on. The average lineup for Early Route Pokemon should be Regional Bird, Rodent, MAYBE a Bug, and something a bit more special (Ralts in Hoenn, Mankey in Kanto, Geodude in Johto for example, all of them found in the Second or Third Route you can reach in the game) to have early on.

Dark Rising is basically a grindfest. Also, the Pokemon used by opponents can sometimes have illegal movesets, like Cosmic Power - Rest - Counter - Mirror Coat Wobbuffet. Actually, there's a shitload of Pokemon that can learn Cosmic Power in DR.

It raises your Defense and Special Defense by 1. It's basically a stalling machine that wants you to poke at it so it can hurt you, and because Shadow Tag you can't switch out.

This is why the best ROM Hacks will always be the ones that allow Pokemon to evolve without trading or they allow you to catch them all without trading.

Simple convenience hacks are usually the most enjoyable.

The problem with weather teams in Dark Rising is that they're overpowered when you don't have a weather of your own but because the ai is shitty as fuck, if you have your own weather inducer, they won't try to preserve their own weather
this is an easy gym if you have ninetales with zenbutt

Yeah, Dark Rising was a huge letdown...But LoG wasn't that bad. Honestly, the only flaw was the obnoxious amount of backtracking you had to do. How you can choose the story is pretty good, too.

But I can't say anything about Flora Sky because I don't remember it.
