Because it doesn't matter how defensive a Pokemon is, it still does a set % of the damage. And if you're 4x weak? 50% of your HP gone. As soon as you switch in. And they're there for the rest of the battle unless you have rapid spin. That's why.

The funny thing is that No Stealth Rock didn't really change the metagame all that much other than now there's a glut of people using Multiscale Dragonite now.
