I caught a Nincada in my backyard. Wouldn't go in the pokeball, but then again, why bother? It's too damn cute to put away. What should I name it?

As long as he's not alone that's good. It's getting cold here and the mating season's pretty much over, but I can still hear cicadas in the afternoon. It makes me sad to hear the last cicadas still trying to find a mate when the others are all dead already.

I used to do that with bees as a kid. Catch them in a little plastic cup, toss them in the freezer for a minute or two until they go into that hibernation like sleep/coma and then tie some string or floss around them and wait for them to thaw out. I used to see how many I could collect in a day before my mom would yell at me not to let them go in the house and I had to release them.

Well, with most bugs you can eat them exoskeleton and all. Especially since cooking them makes their shells even more brittle.

But I like to extract the meat out and put it into other things. Simple stirfry with cicada meat and veggies is nice.
