I have always liked Gengar better, but I never used him because of no friends. Now that I have the opportunity to trade and get him I can't because I can only play on emulators now.

I prefer Haunter. I wish Haunter had a better next evolution, because Gengar honestly isn't that great. Just... wish it was better. Could be a helluva lot worse, though.

I think it comes from the fact that there are so many Pokemon that people haven't used a lot of them, so they're initial reaction to them just defaults to indifferent.

I caught a shiny Gastly in Diamond (my first wild shiny). I was so distraught whether to evolve my Haunter or not because i love Haunter but am indifferent to Gengar. Ended up evolving it and it carried me through Battle Towers/Subways as a destiny bond lead.
