Playing Heart Gold, just caught a Poliwag.

Is Poliwrath worth training up, or should I wait until I get my 6th badge and use my transferred Blastoise from Leaf Green?

You can't transfer in HG/SS until post game. Go with Poliwrath, total bro and worth a team spot.

I played Platinum first and transferred there. I moved all of my Pokemon from Leaf Green, Emerald, and Platinum to Heart Gold as soon as I could.

Poliwrath is marginally better designed than Blastoise.
I don't know how it is in battle but I say just use it.
