They brought back Charizard most likely to showcase megaevolution, I would be surprised if he wasn't the first.

Just wait, Ash's first gym will be against a Talonflame, Charizard will be the only one strong enough to beat it by Megaevolving, and then he will leave until the league.

Torterra deserves it? I can't stop laughing torterra was ash's worst. After it evolved to grovel it just went down hill since ash can only train fast pokemon
