It's OK but I would really have liked a more general pokemon design more. Look at the OOT3D and FE:Awakening 3DS models for example, they're just Zelda and Fire Emblem editions instead of being specially made for the individual game, like these XY models. It'll look silly playing Z, Trumpet Ruby and Water Sapphire on these strictly XY 3DS models.

I personally dislike glossy electronics. I think it makes them look cheap, like a toy (inb4 3DS is a toy; it's a piece of hardware). I bought a Galaxy S3 and immedialy put a matte finished case on it because I hated the glossy back. I also like the tactile qualities of matte paint over gloss.

I'm the same way with a lot of things. I have a motorcycle but refuse to chrome it up because I think chrome looks gaudy. Cars on the other hand...

It really all comes down to personal preference.

I personally don't think so. Game edition Pokemon consoles never really seem to shoot up in value. You can still get a Black/White edition DSi for $150-$180. The probably produce much larger quantities of the game edition ones.

Non-game specific edition, yet themed, consoles are the ones worth money. The Zelda edition 3DS, Pikachu 3DS XL, Pikachu GBA SP, etc.

In the off chance that you do, you'd rather be caught tinkering on your black XL than the bright colored one with a picture of cartoon deer and bird on it. I just realized something. I'm one of those people who always cover electronics in armor to prevent smudges/scratches/damages since I'm clumsy as shit and my systems always fall somehow. I wanted some of the Nerf armor from Gamestop. But I realized it'd cover up the design. So getting one of these will be pointless if I'm just going to cover it up... I feel stupid now.
