What do you mean? Why would someone NOT use a mega stone? Well, Pokemon like Venusaur are actually great in the sun without mega, so that's an example of how that strategy could come in to play.

The former is pretty much confirmed. The latter isn't; I'd like to think megalutions will stay unless the Pokemon gets its mega stone removed (or, if it switches, it goes out and the mega stone is temporally consumed).

Seems like the stone channels some amount of power from the bracelet. You aren't keeping the bracelet pushed in... IDK it feels more like an ignition than a battery.

If a person is going to use a mega evolution, they could just evolve it in a battle prior to the one they want the mega evolution in, and mega evolve it there. Then they have a mega evolved pokemon and can give it an item to hold.

there aren't really even all that many good items.
If you actually play by competitive rules there is an item clause so its not really a waste of a space. If anything it frees up a good item like leftovers or life orb for another party member
