>>13909798A long time ago, /v/ used to be a happy little board like everyone else. Then it became funny to mock and rage on bad games, and the meme of "WE HATE VIDEO GAMES" caught on. It was funny for a while, and some games really did deserve it. Unfortunately, newfags saw this and took it seriously, and still having not shed their forum mentality and need to impress the community, shit on every video game they could in order to look cool. More newfags saw this and adopted the same mentality as the other newfags, in a large snowball effect.
The newfags, of course, weren't all evil, and still maintained a sense of duty towards the things they -really- liked. So some of them still defended Nintendo, or Sony, or games in particular they liked. This caused cliques to form, and general threads to sprout up. Tripfagging became more popular, despite the screams of the old /v/ goers. In a desperate bid to get rid of this cancer, /v/ found a shining light in the dark- Spore. Oh, /v/ was so happy and excited for Spore and what Spore was showing off. Everything looked perfect. It was the perfect opportunity to abolish the old "I HATE VIDEO GAMES" thing forever, with an absolutely great game.
Then Spore came out. Hopes were dashed, and turned to despair. The newfags took this as being proven right and laughed and mocked and took over. This cycle repeated with a few more game releases, each time the number of hopefuls dwindling. The final straw was probably Skyrim, which was such a large disappointment that even old /v/ members became jaded. With the actual video game industry disappointing at every turn and starting to appeal to casuals, and the start of the disgustingly cancerous gaming journalism, people left in droves as /b/tards filed in. The newfags found more entertainment in the infamous "TORTANIC" fiasco, which egged them on to find more things to call "BLUNDER OF THE CENTURY". And now here we are.
And that is why /v/ is bad.
