I'll be blunt, I wasn't much interested in going with Fennekin in this particular run mainly because all I ever used aside from one exception here and there were Fire types. So my mindset was either Chespin or Froakie.
I liked both equally and I just didn't know which one to pick. But, opinions are opinions, for some reason, I had this inkling of a feeling Froakie wasn't going to be the kind of pokemon I'd consider using after seeing any of his evolutions. Which I was right. I'm not saying his design is bad. I just don't feel like he's right for me. I see him and all I've got to say is... Eh. That's it really, just a "eh". Chespin's evolution, on the other hand, while unexpected, I grew to like him for some stupid reason. I don't know if it's that stupid yet charming smile on his face or his bulky design, but he just looks like that one pokemon I'd definitely be bros with. And I also have this gut feeling that whatever his evolution will be, it'll sweep the fuck out of those who are saying "His middle evolution stinks, so his last one will also look like crap" with something pretty damn badass.
If it wasn't for me trying to exclude a Fire-type run, I'd totally go for Fennekin since for once in a life time, the starter isn't a goddamn Fire/Fighting
