The game was way too texty, and you couldn''t even speed it up.

The plot was fucking retarded, it didn't even focus on rescuing just building land.

The whole problem is Pokemon are being selfish and some emotional bullshit.

The fighting is slow based and stale, you can't do more then 1 mission at a time.

If you select a mission you can't do anything else, not even go to town until completed mission.

it sucked ass.

People think it's the epitome of terrible only because they compare it with Explorers, which they obviously weren't even being critical about it. If people were being even half as critical with Explorers as they are with Gates they would at least acknowledge the horrible walk speed. People think that Gates' story is bad, but among the awful characters and plot in Explorers, the story is just so stupid. The entire game it's just "TIME GEAR, TIME, FUTURE" and "DISTORTION, SPACE, BAD". They don't even notice that people like myself had to buy Explorers TWICE just to get some good endgame dungeons and actual depth for the characters, and yet they complain about the optional DLC in Gates that actually is acceptable DLC in my opinion. The list only goes on.

Can we at least agree that the plot for the explorers games is better than the main games? I can barely remember the plot of the main games except near the end when legendaries are brought into the story. It's all a sort of blur. Most characters only get a text backstory, and some empty filler lines that are supposed to imply we care.

And after that Palkia gets tricked by Darkrai who says that you're bad and attacks you but you turn out okay and go on to fight Darkrai who, despite his nice guy looks, is actually EVIL! So then you fight him and now you're all better.

What is stupid though is why the fuck are they all so far away from Temporal Tower if they're meant to be an emergency measure, why the fuck do they slow down the time around the area they're in when in the end it turns out they aren't even needed to keep time flowing, why is there no one keeping an eye on Temporal Tower from the outside to know when shit's fucking up to go activate the emergency measure, and a bunch of other shit related to the Time Gears and Temporal Tower that's just pretty stupid.

Really, I just have so many problems with the entirety of the plot to Explorers.

There is legitimately nothing good about Red Rescue Team. It has better music than Explorers, but that's it. Even Explorers has better plot/characters/story. The only memorable part of the story is when you have to run away from town because you were accused of doing something bad and everyone in the town inexplicably believes it.

Gates is a VERY good game but lacks heavily in content and will generally take only a few weeks to 100%
Explorers is a Jack of all trades, master of none in that it has tons of content but the quality of the content is arguably lower than Gates'

Japan-only Wiiware title.

The game was split into three "versions" and to access all the content you had to buy all three. Even then, it was still notably lacking in content compared to any of the other PMD games. It also used the Ranch models and had literally no story.

With how much gen 6 is also putting focus back on old pokemon with mega evolutions, I'd think the next Mystery Dungeon game would also try to focus on older ones too. The ones that get mega evolutions, at the very least.

It brings the whole game down when it focuses on story and the story isn't even good. Which is why I'd rather have another Gates. Less content is okay by me as long as the content is at least good, otherwise I wouldn't play the games and would just stick to the main series.
