The show was always pretty choppy, but the introduction of awkward digital and how far it's taken over... it just kept getting worse and worse. And those fucking redesigns... yeesh.

are you fucking kidding me? the recent animation has been better than it has ever been. Its amazing for a long running anime. Compare its animation to one piece and naruto and you might reassess your opinion.

It's because it's long running series with a predictable number of viewers. Increasing the animation budget won't actually bring in a significant number of new viewers, so it's not worth it for the company to increase the budget. Most long running anime have this problem as well since shorter series that only run for a season or two need to look as good possible to bring in a sizable fanbase, so more money gets poured into those shows per episode when compared to a series like Pokemon.

Everyone just sort of seems to accept that Pokemon isn't really at the anime thing as Digimon is (or rather, was) and the Digimon games could never really compare to the Pokemon ones. But imagine what, for an obvious example, Gen Urobuchi could do for the anime side of the franchise if given the reins for a season/series of Pokemon.

Likewise, I've always wanted a video game worthy of how great the Digimon universe was (at least in the Adventures and Tamers seaons).

Making anime is expensive, especially if you aren't making it to sell BDs and shit. So yes.

That's objective. But yes, it has lost quality because you can only rehash the same things over and over again.

Yes.

Also, its directed at kids who aren't here looking for a good plot or amazing battle animation or world building. So they don't need any of the above because it wouldn't make them much more money. Doing so and expecting adults, otaku and western audiences to buy BDs and spend more money on Pokemon merchandise is too risky a business move.

But origins might save the pokemon anime if it's well received.
