>Ice and rock
Solid offensive coverage, terrible defenisve typing has to be a sweeper can't tank

>Refrigerate
Completely useless on a special attacker for two reasons; Normal's special pool is fucking abyssmal and Ice already has great sp moves in ice beam and blizzard making anything it could get redundant

>Rock is a terrible special based typing
POWA GEAM that's all I need to say

Literally the only way this thing can be even remotely good with it's type and ability is as a physical attacker. If it's a special attacker there are heaps of better options and it's wasting an ability slot, I'd it's a tank it's fucking boned.

Because there are a tonne of pokemon that that can use Ice beam and Blizzard right now (including far far safer water types), it's physical ice that that has a massive hole in the meta only avalanche which is risky because ice is innately frail and icicle crash (which is why mamoswine is a thing)

Hyper beam is not good it's never been good, it's the move 9 year old put on their charizard because they like fucking goku.
It's also got nothing on boosted STAB ice type return.
You clearly don't play competitively if you think this a real option (which is fine but makes your post irrelevant, this thing being shit in PvP wont make it less good in game)

Because Hyperbeam is not Explosion and since literally any pokemon carrys moves that can easily destroy Auroros, it's unlikely he'll be surviving anything with a smidgeon of HP to be consumed by a Life Orb or something

You can just build the team around that. Making sure that once your Ice/Rock dies you can switch to a Pokemon that can haze a set up sweeper easily shouldn't be too hard. Not to mention if they don't kill you or 4x resist ice moves then a STAB Hyper Beam will probably kill them too. Not to mention if they keep the preview thing you'll know if they might have a set up sweeper, so you should know when it a Hyper Beam might be too risky. I don't think it's all as bad as they say. There've been good Ice Pokemon before, and so long as his stats aren't and movepool aren't awful he should still be useable in OU, even if he gets pushed down to UU or BL tier due to his typing.

The issue isn't the stats, the issue is people trying to defend it if the stats aren't speed and physical attack focused.

It's been stated multiple times in this threaed that
1. Sp.att focus will kill it because it means refrigerate is a wasted ability slot (inspite of what the hyper beam fags say) because normal's special pool sucks and ice beam and blizzard exist.
2. Sp. att focus will waste the offensive power of rock (as it stands)
3. A tank focus is laughable because it's typing is terrrible defensively.

It has to be defensive, ever since gen1 there has always been an offensive fossil and defensive:

Offensive:
Kabutops
Armaldo
Rampardos
Archeops

Defensive:
Omastar
Craidily
Bastiodon
Caracosta

Now, Cara is actually a decent sweeper because of shell smash, but the speed of all of these pokes except for is fuckawful. I think it will probably have OK attacking stats but speed will inevitably be terrible. Shit, even having good offensive stats didn't stop Rampardos and Armaldo from having shit speed. The only non-flying fossil with passable speed is Kabutops and even then he's only hitting 80 base which makes him slower than almost every sweeper in OU without swift swim active.

Trex will probably be shit tier too though, so don't worry so much about it, use what you like ingame.

Stats are the core of the argument here though. Unless ifs physical refrigerate is wasted (I know i know hurr hurr hyper beam) and physical ice is a really untapped neiche where as every man and his dog run special ice already.

Move pool is less important; If it's physical you can easily get good coverage from it's typing if it's special we'd have to see if they throw rock a bone but it wouldn't save it from 'there are better options' syndrome.

when you switch in on this mon's hyper beam when it has 10% health, you're going to have a "fuck me" moment because you're too used to a metagame with predictable players who are too afraid to deviate from forum build critiques.

being good at competitive play is 1/3rd luck, 1/3rd sound team building, and 1/3rd mind game. none of you niggas know the first thing about deception and manipulation, except for when it comes to lieing to your parents to get shit.

Hyper Beam is actually pretty good in Stadium 1 because if you KO a mon in one hit you don't have to recharge (same thing with Double Edge. No recoil if you KO a guy). But otherwise yea, it sucks.
