Travel companions. You can interact with them, make campfires, they provide tips and items, suggest you to do sidequests, etc.

Also you can have 3v3 battles where your companions use their pokemons too.

Levitate becomes a seperate property.
I mean, a pokemon can have any ability it wants EXCEPT Levitate, and whether it levitates or not is determined by another "checkbox"
So, Flygon for example could have Sand Veil as an ability, and it levitates.
(mega) Charizard could become Fire/Dragon with Drought/Solar Power/Blaze, AND it levitates
Gengar has Cursed Body AND it levitates
Bronzong has Heatproof ONLY and doesn't levitate
etc etc etc
etc
Either that, OR Levitate becomes "viewable" at switch-in (think Unnerve/Mold Breaker/Intimidate)

But only if you can give them directions or affect their AI in some way, like with Mystery Dungeon. Like not to challenge people, not to force double encounters, etc. And leave them behind for important shit. I don't want to deal with retarded AI friendlies fucking me over in a nuzlocke.

Make all status effects mutually compatible. Why can a sleeping thing not be poisoned, etc? This would have great trolling potential and also give a needed boost to defensive strategies, since every generation seems to add ever more overpowered offensive stuff than the last.

As an aside, that has got to be the most appealing Iris fanart I've ever seen. I don't normally like her that much, but...

Another save file is unlocked after you beat the original game.

Hard-mode.

You can transfer Pokemon from your old file into the new game after you've beaten the Elite 4.

Hard mode: when a pokémon faints, it will die in (100 + level) steps unless healed. Fast travel moves won't save it.
This is the only way to obtain a Spectreon. It looks like an Eevee skeleton with a dark purple silhouette.

An online pokemon adoption center.

When you go to restart your game, the game gives you the option to upload your old game's pokemon there instead of simply wiping them.

Make it some sort of early game thing where you can go there and get dudes that other people have abandoned. Only low level dudes at first, but as the game progresses and you get more badges, you get access to more dude.

Isn't that redundant? Consider that the abandoned pokemon appropriate to your level are only the ones that you can obtain yourself at that stage of the game so why would you bother adopting one when you can just catch your own. Relased ones are also more likely to have shitty IVs/natures which is probably the reason they got dumped in the first place.

Hadn't considered that. I personally would enjoy not having to be forced into contact with other people for the sake of completing the pokedex, but regardless that is one of the main purposes of the game. Especially since they're still doing the whole double version release thing.

When a pokemon is in yellow health, it will shake its head or pant a bit. When a pokemon is in red health, it will visibly look weakened, panting heavily and its eyes trying to stay open.
