Water was being splashed and pool noodles brandishes like lances as Delia and Misty relaxed after their weekend swimming session. Ever since Ash headed off to Hoenn, the pair had started to spend more time together, from Misty visiting Pallet Town to bring groceries from Cerulean's markets, to Delia's swimming and shopping sessions.
While Misty was not the cook and homemaker that Brock was, she had easily become almost a second child to her. She had listened to Misty's venting about Ash's inability to use a phonecall, and even played wingmom to drop hints to her son, and gently remind him of the the girl who had to stay behind.
Motherly intuition told her that Misty's heart wasn't in it today. Her coaxing and encouragement hadn't worked, so it was up to her to put plan B into effect. With an almighty sweep of her arms, she sent water cascading forwards before dipping down. With swift speed she appeared behind Misty to wrap her arms around the young woman.
"Come on, dear. Let's get out of the pool, have some dinner and watch a movie. I'll make your favourite, and I'll hold the peppers and carrots."
The red-haired girl's expression brightened at that. "Thanks Mo... Mrs Ketchum!" She stammered, a blush on her cheeks.
Delia's warm laugh filled the vast expanse of the gym. "We can talk about Ash while I cook, if you want." She shushed Misty's protests with a knowing look. "You always try to call me Mom when he's the problem. It's cute."
