I started with Gen 3. Emerald to be exact, and here's my opinion on Hoenn.

The amount of water wasn't bad, it was just I always got lost trying to figure out where the hell I was trying to go. I didn't mind the low diversity in the water routes because apparently unlike you tards I knew how to use repels

So? What's wrong with trumpets. Every region needs something that makes it's OST stand out.
>Gen 3 Pokemon
They're ok. I liked the Trapinch line a lot. However, some pokemon like Whismur were just meh.

>Gen 3 Gym Leaders and Elite Four
They're forgettable, especially the Elite Four.

>Conclusion
Hoenn was an average region. Nothing terrible, but nothing extraordinary. If I had to rate regions based on how fun they are to play I'd say

Sinnoh>Unova>Hoenn=Johto>Kanto

>What do I want from Kalos
I want a complex story like BW. I also would like the map to force a little backtracking every once in a while rather than it being linear. I would also like Team Flare's Pokemon to get diversity. I don't want to battle Ratatta and Zubats for the entire game.

Hey, I may have started at Gen 4, but that doesn't mean the magic of play Pokemon for the first time was any less than it was for you. I got Pearl when I was 6 and it was the best thing in the world to me. I have now played every game in the series and participated in tournaments, obviously EV train and breed for IV and natures, and have over 2500 Wi-Fi point thingys. I could name every pokemon(with a picture) and have completed my national dex, minus some event pokemon. I love all gens, and Gen Three is actually my favorite. Sure, I came late too the party, but that doesn't mean I party any less hard. (No I wasn't the guy that posted the "heue water trumpets, but I was kind of offended with your post.)

Except for the last two, it appears I've picked the Water version every gen.

Always used the Water-starter, too, plan on using Froakie as well. Except in the second playthrough of White, where I boxed it and used Seismitoad instead.
