I think it's because he somehow knows he will be the better of the three. Water/Fighting is a pretty good offensive typing, and his evolutions seem to be getting streamlined as fuck, implying a high speed stat.

As long as the Froak is fast he can take out Fennekin with Water moves and Chespin with Fighting moves (if Chespin becomes Dark, Steel or Rock as people seem to think).

Who else are you guy putting on your team? Personally gonna try using Fletchling, Clauncher, Pyroar, Xerneas, Tyrunt, maybe even Meowstick if it turns out to be any good. Really just waiting to see more new Pokémon, though...

Right now by locked in bros are The Froak, Pangoro, and Tyrantrum. Talonflame is also on the team unless I find a Kalos flier that I like more. The other two spots are undecided. Dedenne and Skrelp are my placeholders until I find a better fairy and fairy fighter.

It was said in an earlier thread that gashira means "head of", as in the person in charge. Apparently gashira is also used in some of Japan's officer ranks, so it could be soldier-themed.

Doubt it though, as a CoD Frogue doesn't really fit with medievel RPG, which Masuda stated they'd follow. Really hoping it's either a rogue or thief or something.

There are more non-Flying-types that learn bounce than Flying-types (I think Gyarados is the only one). Besides, it's a frog, it should be able to bounce. It also gives us an early Chespin counter-move.

The only real offputting part with Chespin for me has been Quilladin. I reckon the 3rd evo will look pretty cool, but that second stage just didn't appeal to me like Frogadier did.

Torterra was very impressive. Grotle was a little underwhelming, and I was worried about the third stage. But damn, that little tree and stone on the back were so damn cool. Infernape was such a bro, and I loved the design, but Empoleon was cool in it's own right. A Water/Steel emperor penguin? Nice. If only it had a better stat distribution it'd be more useful...

how the fuck did i forget blaziken... hang on a sec, how many of the previous starters have been released in the dream world? so far the ones i can think of are blaziken, venusaur, blastoise and charizard, and they all have megas now. could be a hint?
