Usually pick male. Might pick gril in the obligatory 3rd version.
Don't see how people can be so insecure about choosing another gender, it's just pixels/textures/etc.

It depends on who/how many of my friends get the game and who I play as. I know a few who would rib me for choosing the girl. Also, because of how customization seems important and shit, picking Caelum may not be that bad - I can change his shitty look now.

I am male.

I will first be playing as a male in pokemon X and do a normal playthrough.

Then I will swap games with my bro (we've done this since GSC) and do a "fun" / "hardmode" run. I generally do some kind of nuzlocke or self-made ruleset or pokesav my own starter for that shit. I'll probably pick the girl that time for a change of pace.
