but that charmeleon looks more obviously stylistic and intentionally 'wonky', and if you look at his other drawings, it's pretty easy to get an idea of his style and what he's doing

I was not using the buzzword for "people I don't like".

I don't personally like the lack of effort that style requires, but I can appreciate it for what it is. Charmeleon and Light Slowbro look nice.

I used to be a big fan of Kagemaru Himeno, but now I think that her style is a bit "safe" and not risque enough. Sure it's pretty to look at and doesn't easily get anyone disliking it, but it's going safe.

Yeah, I was talking about the wonky ones exclusively. The ones Psypoke was sperging about.

Cacnea and Cubone are Godly and the others are all very good.

Lombre is one that I like a lot, but I' not sure whether to class it as wonky or not.

sometimes the construction of the character is wonky and childish but he gives it more detailed shading/lighting. it's pretty interesting.

nonono, it's very well-drawn, but it has an intentional air of childishness to it. like Yoshi's Island or something but maybe a little more. it's specifically drawn to look flat; he can make stuff look far more three-dimensional than that.

from a very quick glance, it just seemed like something drawn ironically shitty. but if you look more closely at Charmeleon, even that one showcases his good coloring, posing and compositional skills.

The foiling/holographic process on pokemon cards was always my favorite in comparison to other TCGs. Even still today it's probably my favorite, despite only really playing Magic now.

Also the art on all of these are wonderful. Always liked Pokemon TCG art.

I've never really like Kagemaru Himeno's cards. They've always been too... misty looking for my taste. Like Expedition Base Set Rapidash and Neo Genesis Cleffa. Then again in recent sets a lot of the artists have begun to "sanitise" their style. Most of the older artists all have a bland look to their art now. I feel the greatest offended is Masakazu Fukuda.
