Smogon's clauses have a tendency to get out of control, I think.

Like instead of just targeting Swift Swim Kingdra with a ban, they banned SS+Drizzle altogether which killed the viability of every other SS Pokemon that didn't become THE most broken POS in the game.

no. you need to know what movesets people run on every pokemon you might even have a chance of facing, you must know how to predict, never following a pattern, you have to have some balls in some cases and stay in when you want to switch, but not be reckless. It's very complex. Smogon is a good place to start but is not the beginning and end of competitive play, I don't think Ray Rizzo despite his long-standing Smogon account took three consecutive VGCs with sets copied from Smogon

Stunning logic

Ludicolo, Kabutops, Omastar, Gorebyss, Huntail, Carracosta, and Floatzel all would probably get banned one after another even when Kingdra wasn't around. They're all ridiculous for once reason or another, most of them being sweepers that decimate the vast majority of the metagame after a turn of set-up, Floatzel becoming the best cleaner in the entire metagame, and Ludicolo being its usual self having an absolutely ridiculous movepool and tons of power, roles from cleaning to subseeding, from something that still outpaces the entire tier.

Speed is the most important stat in Pokemon. Only stuff like Deo-S gets speed and resources, and DrizzleSwSw gave a ton of random Pokemon Speed AND Power on top of anything they already had. This is why Excadrill was banned as well, he had too much power for something so goddamned fast. Unless you really want to ban like 8 Pokemon from lower tiers so we can use Swift Swim Mantine and Luvdisc, the DrizzleSwSw ban was warranted

not that guy but you're being vague. anything can be revenge killed, but countering something is different. a hard counter to a pokemon is something that can switch in with no fear of being OHKOd or 2HKOd and kill the enemy before it kills them. a check is something that can't kill the enemy but can force it out through other means. not all pokemon are counterable, Hydreigon being one of them

For example, while SpD celebi is a counter to scarf keldeo in rain, scarf latios is a check to it.

Might be true, but even then it's more fun than having to build your team to counter Scizor, Ferrothorn, Politoed and Keldeo because they're in just about every team in OU. In NU you only have to worry about the omnipresent Alomomola but other than that you can face pretty much anything thanks to the great people there who care about variety and fun more than muh stats and choice items.

Maximum kek, I haven't seen a single Sawk in NU. Scolipede? Primeape? You see those occasionally but they're not that common. Alomomola is pretty much the Scizor of OU with Musharna and Jynx being quite common too but not to the extent that it would get annoying,

If a team has one Pokemon in the OU tier, does that make it incompatible for lower tiers?
For example, my WiFi team is
Breloom (OU), Dusclops (UU), Nidoqueen (UU), Cincinno (RU), Volbeat (NU) and Floatzel (NU)

Learn to context. Within the realm of Pokemon, a counter is a Pokemon that can switch in to a Pokemon, take the hit, then KO it next turn.

The few good users of Aqua Jet are either not bulky enough to take that first hit or not strong enough to OHKO it. Trying to counter Blaziken would be EXTREMELY centralizing.

The strongest aqua jet, choice band, adamant azumarill does about 60% to blaziken in the sun, and a swords dance hi jump kick will OHKO any azumarill. Therefore, azumarill is not a viable switch in, nor is it a check, because simply swords dancing on the switch as blaziken will ensure that azumarill cant stop you.

Therfore it is not a counter if it can switch in to the most common set. Not to mention, an unboosted hi jump kick does 77%-90%, therefore switching into any attack, and then getting hi jump kicked is certain death.

Even with no weather, azumarill would be foolish to switch in, with stealth rocks, a life orb hi jump kick has a 31% chance to OHKO.

Azumarill can not reliably switch into blaziken, and in good weather is completely ineffective against. Therfore it is not a counter.
