>>13955006I often have this conversation with my girlfriend so I'll tell you the same thing I tell her.
The male-female system has given rise to (as far as we know) the only known intelligent and full and truly sentient life. Us. The human sociopolitical landscape of human history? Doesn't matter. The millions upon millions of other species of life on the planet who don't use the mammalian system? Don't matter. Any socially female-centric species where the female is bigger/stronger/dominant? Doesn't matter.
The only thing that matters is the fact that we evolved through this system and here we are today. Assuming the ultimate end path of evolution would be a creature that adapts to all environments and situations quickly and effortlessly and taking into account the difficulties of such on a scale such as ours (as opposed to say Tardigrades), intelligence is the runner-up prize in that race since it allows us to adapt the immediate environment to us.
Does it make the current sociopolitical oppression of women, right? No, and it's something we should have moved past by now instead of acting like the base animals we are so far above.
However, we never would have come this far if things weren't the way they were. So to all the women out there who deplore gender dimorphism and all the things it brings: We are fucking lucky to be where we are. Either you come to terms with the system that made us intelligent and the planet on which it originated and continue to work to change the social climate, or you come to terms with the fact that if you were any other species you would lack the ability to contemplate let alone decry your fate.
CHECK. YOUR. FUCKING. PRIVILEGE.
