Hey /vp/, somewhat new to the competitive side of Pokemon and I'm quite confused specifically about Choice items.

Mainly, how do you work around the side effect of it? And if there's no way to do so, why does Smogon suggest on its Garchomp page to have Dragon Claw along with Outrage so you can use a dragon move without the side effect of having to Outrage 2 or 3 turns? If the Garchomp is holding a Choice Band, doesn't that make it Dragon Claw for the rest of its turns?

Oh, okay, it's all been theoretical to me at this point so I didn't know that you could actually switch out with Choice Band items. I assumed it was just like using Outrage, giving you no options on your next turn. Thanks for the quick replies

Predict the opponent's possible switch so that they bring in their Pokemon hoping to catch a resisted attack.

Say you have Specs Hydreigon, you bring it out, you select Fire Blast expecting the opponent to send in a Steel, or Superpower/Focus Blast to hit T-Tar, Chansey, etc.
