>>13958310Sure, for regions:
I liked how relatively open-ended Kanto was. It wasn't a sandbox or anything but you had a lot of freedom in the midgame, and that sort of stuff appeals to me.
5 was actually meant to be grouped with 2. I don't like how circular it is. I haven't actually played BW2 so it might have fixed that.
3 is a pretty mixed region for me. Early game and mid game were really awesome with a lot of diverse locations, but then comes with the endgame with the water water water we all know and love.
It was hard for me to rate 2 because I wasn't sure whether or not just to rate Johto alone or rate it with Kanto. A lot of people seem to just rate it alone so that's what I did, and Johto alone isn't really that interesting. If you include it with Kanto then it's my favorite region.
4 felt really boring to me...I thought it relied too much on Mt. Coronet. Granted, I only played through those games once so I could be misremembering things.
For starters: I rate I the highest because those three are all simplistic, yet great. There's not a single Kanto starter I dislike, and they're pretty decently balanced amongst each other, with Charizard fulfilling the offensive role, Blastoise playing the defense, and Venusaur doing a mix of both.
II follows mainly for the same reasons as Gen I, though it ranks lower because I don't like how Chikorita's final evolution turned out.
III I don't like Mudkip but Swampert is pretty good, while Treecko is cool but Sceptile is lame. Torchic line is the only one that stays consistent in quality.
I even like Combusken.V Snivy line is pretty great, but Dewott shouldn't have evolved into Samurott (though I like Samurott on his own, just not compared to Dewott) and the Pignite line is shit.
IV ranks last because although I like all their first forms, their final forms are pretty lame. Well, okay, Infernape appeals to the inner Dragon Ball fanboy in me, but Empoleon and Torterra are still pretty ass.
