>>13962040The problem with this theory is 90% of bug pokemon suck and will never be fixed to be made viable. The good bug pokemon that exist will remain popular... but that's it.
Like, look at fucking beedrill. Three usable stats - Atk, SpD and Spe. He has next to no HP, so his SpD doesn't help him against any fire attack from anyone with 90+ SpA. His Spe is simply too low to compete with stuff like Dugtrio or Gengar, nevermind 90% of the bulky ass pokemon that get 100 speed and can 2-3 HKO Beedrill while still walling him (and going first never the less). His Atk stat isn't that great and his highest power stab moves are 80. He has a decent move pool, but without the survivability to swords dance, agility, or toxic spikes, he's stuck in scarf, sash, or band, meaning he's predictable and weak.
Beedrill is actually a cut above most of the low tier bug pokemon - Butterfree? Ariados? Dustox? Really, really niche - really, no niche, not even in NU. They have poor stats combined with poor abilities and overall wimpy movepools.
Being super effective to fairy won't mean shit because most fairies will out speed them and probably have access to a flying/fire/rock move that will one or two shot them.
All this does is make Heracross, Scizor, etc. MORE mandatory than before.
