They aren't even practical in this image. To compensate for the fact he thinks his work is good enough to add a shit load of watermarks, he had to make them all microscopic and illegible. And because these watermarks are so minuscule, if someone wanted to they could easily just paint over them and get off better if he just had a bigger, more readable watermark cast into the corner of the piece.
