So I'm about to go to Kanto in SS and I was wondering:

What team did you use against Red?

I think I'm going with:
Blastoise
Gengar
Electivire
Scizor
Salamence
Garchomp

Should be good, right?

This was my team in SS, I remember beating him but I don't remember how much I leveled them or how many tries it took me.

Well, they're a collection of Pokemon I've used through each different game.

Blastoise and Gengar are from Leaf Green.
Salamence is from Emerald.
Scizor and Garchomp are from Platinum.
And I bred that Electivire for Soul Silver.

I figured I'd put together my strongest team to end out Gen 4 before I move on to BW. Plus they're some of my favorites.

I won against Red with the same team I congregated throughout the game: Dragonite, Gengar, Kingdra, Scizor, Tyranitar, Togekiss

One Bullet Punch knocked out Pikachu, though, haha. Great tension breaker, that.

My most recent team I went up against Red with was an amalgamation of 6 bros from various nuzlockes. But honestly you can beat Red with anything as long as your whole team is around 70.

Team for those curious was:
>Venusaur
>Hypno
>Swampert
>Lanturn
>Gengar
>Scizor

Gengar was the only casualty, due to a Frenzy Plant crit.

Currently training for Red too. Amidst the hype of X&Y I started up SS again. I've lost White version which had pretty much all my pokes from SS anyway so I had to make do with what I had in my PC.

So far I have:

Typhlosion
Gengar
Gorebyss
Clefable
Toxicroak

They're all either pokemon I had on hand OR had never actually used before. I know it's not a terribly versatile spread but suggest a sixth mon pls.

Also I don't play competitively and I'm trying my hand at EV training/building movesets myself, so if you have any moves to recommend or strategies to run then whip em out
