Has the Pokemon franchise ever used sketchy or objectionable tactics in their marketing before? With the franchise being so big they must've pulled some dark shit at some point

The BK pokeball toy disaster, where kids were cupping the top half of the pokeballs over their mouths, creating a vaccum, and a kid suffocated.

They were begged to pull the toys but didn't for weeks until another incident happened.

This is from memory, but I read it recently, it happened, their lawyer sort of issued that they needed to stop I believe.

Most of Pokemon's marketing stuff has been pretty tame all around. In the 90s it was mostly word of mouth, and now it's just people sharing them on the internet.
