IVs are the thing I hate most.
If IVs didn't exist, all you'd have to do for a top-rate competitive team (aside from knowledge and strategy) is to EV train and level, and you could do this in a reasonable amount of time without dedicating your life to it.
With IVs, you just multiplied the time involvement by about 50. Seriously, IVs make a top-rate competitive team take FOREVER to produce. RNGing helps if you wanna go that route, but it shouldn't come to that to begin with.
If IVs didn't exist, I'd be all over competitive Pokemon. But since IVs are there, I can only afford enough time to barely produce a team quick enough to keep up with the evolution of the meta-game.
